The Ngurrara people have been recognised as the native title holders of some 20,000 square kilometres of land and waters in the central Kimberley and Fitzroy Valley.
Traditional Owner and Named Applicant, Harry Yungabun told the Kimberley Land Council he felt relieved to finally see native title recognised on his country.
“Native title is really important for recognition for our old people, but especially our young people, the future generation, so they can understand the land, the country, the people and the culture. I feel relieved that after all this time we’ve finally done it, we’ve gotten native title.”
There was dancing & celebration at Ngurtuwarta community approximately 15 km outside of Fitzroy Crossing town.
Wangki Radio wishes congratulations to all the traditional owners.
